Narrative  Usually tells the story of one main character; for example, the detective or an individual hero.  Learn more about the main few characters as the production goes on, revealing more of their back story  There is usually a crime or mystery that needs to be solved.  the crime or mystery gets solved by the end.  Most end on a cliffhanger to leave the story open for another film or episode.

Technical Codes  Most production of this genre follow:  Todorov's Narrative Theory  Equilibrium, Disruption, Recognition, Attempt to Repair, New Equilibrium  Propp's Character Spheres  Hero, Villain, Princess, False Hero, The Helper  Binnary Opposites  Putting two characters or situations together that are total opposites of each other; for example, a criminal and detective.
