DCS’S Substance Abuse Programme The Rehabilitation Unit  Goal of Unit Empowerment of clients to enable their smooth re-entry into the society.

Life Skills Areas to be covered:  Anger management  Sexuality  Self esteem  Family Life & Spirituality  Literacy  Entrepreneurship

DATA  46 % of inmates are substance abusers  11.2 % of current inmate population is incarcerated on drug related charges

The Programme  Has been in gestation stage since 2004  Is being developed with the assistance of OAS & NCDA  Target group is all inmates serving 1-3 years & all juvenile offenders  Pilot to be carried out at T.S.A.C.C.

Project Goal  To prevent and minimize the incidence of Substance Abuse and provide a Treatment and Rehabilitation Support System for custodial clients of the DCS
