VETERINARY RESPONSE CORP  157 VRC Members across the state  63 VRC-SART members  Students at NCSU CVM and veterinary technical schools are credentialed when they graduate -ICS, Biosecurity, CAMET training, etc  Registered through servNC

VRC DEPLOYMENTS  Local interaction  Set up colocation shelters in multiple counties during events  Integrate with local CARTs  State deployment potential during a large scale disaster  Encourage to work locally during all events

THE FUTURE OF VRC  Train with our NGO partners MOU with American Humane  Train with counties and continue to integrate with EM, CARTs, Public Health, etc.  Continue to integrate on the local level  In the case of a large scale event state level deployment is possible

WHERE ARE THE CAMETS NOW?  Most are owned by local Emergency Management  EM is responsible for the maintenance of their units -CART trainings -yearly inventory review

WHO IS TRAINED TO USE THEM?  Emergency Management  Animal Control  Cooperative Extension  VRC/SART members  Veterinary students  Veterinary technical students

TAKE HOME MESSAGE:  Update your CART resource list -personnel -CAMET -other resources and contacts  VRC members already working with you on a local level  Update your CART plan if you haven’t looked at it in awhile  Lots of people are trained to use the CAMET, take advantage of them and know who in your county is ready to help you!

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE  Bringing the VRC to locals -access to servNC registered VRC members for local EM  Recruitment -create a recruitment template with county coordinators who know best how to recruit new members -continue to encourage more local involvement with EM at time of registration or when moving to another county -share with VRC members the new process through the newsletter and trainings
