 Eliminates Title IV eligibility for students without a high school diploma or equivalent  Recognized Equivalent of a High School Diploma ◦ GED ◦ State Authorized test ◦ Two-year program acceptable for a BA program ◦ Excelled academically in high school

 Temporarily eliminated the interest subsidy on Direct Subsidized Loans during the 6 month grace period for new loans with first disbursements made on or after July 1, 2012 and before July 1, 2014

 6.8% or 3.4% that is the question  House passed the GOP bill to keep the interest at 3.4%  Senate failed to pass the Democrat version of the Bill on Tuesday. At this point still unclear how the senate will proceed. July 1 the interest rate is set to go up

 New SAP Policy in place as of July  Defined warning and probation  SAP must be checked at least once a year  Warning given to those not meeting SAP the first time but SAP must be checked every semester  Probation given after an appeal only required to check once a year  Student can be placed on academic plan, as long as they meet the plan, they are ok for aid

 GPA must be at least a 2.0 or equal or greater to schools requirement after 4 semesters  Must track pace to graduate within 6 years  Maximum Time Frame  Students do not have to be given the right to appeal however if they are they must explain 1.Why they did not meet the policy 2.What has changed now that will allow them to make progress

 Basically in order to be an eligible program the degree/certificate must lead to gainful employment ◦ Prep courses that do lead to a degree or certificate ◦ Teacher certification programs leading to a certificate awarded by the institution ◦ ESL Programs leading to a certificate or if a proprietary institution, a degree- Pell Only
