GRESD The Swedish Graduate School in Education and Sustainable Development (GRESD)

GRESD assembles eight universities and more than fifteen PhD-candidates Gothenburg University Jönköping University Malmö University Mälardalen University Stockholm University Umeå University Uppsala University Örebro University

GRESD The research focus is students’ experiences of teaching and learning about sustainable development – including how forms and content of instruction influence their experience – within the larger framework of education for sustainable development (ESD).

GRESD The contribution of GRESD is to enhance ESD research and practice considering the complexity of teaching and learning in ecological, economical, social and ethical context.

GRESD is led by a board of representatives from all departments of the eight participating universities, with Uppsala University’s Faculty of Educational Science as the formal host. Major work and activities will be facilitated by a steering committee comprised of a coordinator and scientific leader at the Department of Curriculum Studies, Uppsala University.

GRESD To enhance the School’s international outlook and exchange, a research advisory group of international scholars in the field is established: Prof. Arjen Wals, Wageningen University, Netherlands Prof. Heila Lotz-Sisitka, Rhodes University, South Africa Prof. Jeppe Læssøe,The Danish School of Education, Denmark Prof. William A.H. Scott, University of Bath, UK

GRESD is one of the largest contemporary ESD- research environments in the world! The eight Swedish universities together will give a valuable contribution to the rapidly evolving research field of Education for Sustainable development nationally and internationally - as least we hope to do so!

GRESD In case of questions, please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in research collaborations, graduate student exchanges or other services. Scientific leader: Coordinator:

Questions Are there graduate schools elsewhere in this research area? Are there GRESD collaboration possibilities? Are there graduate schools? We hope graduate schools could be interesting for others to start!
