They also like American movies and music. Russian kids go to school every day but Sunday, starting when they are about six years old. They study subjects like math, reading, science, history, and writing. Depending on their interests and abilities, some kids go to special schools where they can also learn things like ballet or music. Russians consider education to be very important, but the country’s economic problems have meant that there sometimes isn’t enough money to improve schools, pay the teachers, or buy new textbooks.
