Name: Oluseyi Dawodu Course: Computing Level: 2 nd Topic: Usability Engineering Goals and Measurement and Problems with Usability Introduction

What is Usability Engineering? It is the modelling the usability of a system What is Usability? It is a key concept in HCI which is concerned with making the system easy to learn and use

In order to produce a computer system with a good usability, HCI specialists strive to: * Understand the factors (physical, egonomical, organisational, And social factors that determines how people operate and Make use of the system technology effectively. * Development of tools and technologies to help designers ensure that computer systems are suitable for the activities for which people will use them for * Visible. The controls have to be visible * Affordance. This is a technology term that refers to the properties Of objects i.e what sort of operation and manipulation cane be done.

Goals of Usability Engineering To produce the usable and safe system as well as functional systems. To develop or improve the safety, utility, effectiveness and efficiency of system that include computer. (when we talk about system, it does not only refer to hardware and software but to people that use the computer as well.)

Problems New Technology. When a new technology is introduce, this can lead to change in structure of the job and organisation which can also make staff unhappy and can reduce productivity. Cost of Implementing. This includes cost of hardware, software and organisation.
