RE and our Christian Ethos in Year 1 Year 1 is a big transition year as your child learns how to ‘learn’ and how to play and work with other children. We aim to teach your child to be confident in dealing with problems and give them to skills to sort out problems in a loving environment. The school’s distinctive character, Christian values and effective provision for all pupils’ academic and personal needs and development, have consistently improved achievement for all. The quality of worship is distinctive, inclusive and an appropriate feature of life at Pinhoe school. The school is inclusive, supportive and challenging for all. SIAMS report Our recent ‘Outstanding’ SIAMS report identified that:

respect thankfulness perseverance honesty Forgivenes s LOVE Our Core ValuesThe Pinhoe Learning Wheel

An example of some of the types of activities available to children focussing on the learning skills.

The Learning Pit Empathises with children that learning can be a tricky thing. Helps them understand that mistakes help us to learn. Allows children to talk about their worries and anxieties positively. Encourages children to take risks with learning and challenge themselves. Promotes collaboration and teaches children how to explain their thinking to help themselves and others ‘get out of the pit’.

Information for parents PE times 1MD – Outdoor PE Monday, Indoor PE Friday 1FJ – Outdoor PE Wednesday, Indoor PE Tuesday Children have access to water bottles all day – please ensure they have a bottle full of water in school daily. We like to get outside as often as we can so please ensure your child has a coat in school. Your child’s learning is a partnership between home and school. Please come and chat if you have any problems, concerns or would like to offer your time.
