Advertising Production Monday 10 th October Unit 18 – task 1 Ousman Touray

Visual Language Visual language is a way of communicating through images and visuals that gets what you are trying to say across without words. Diagrams, maps and paintings are all examples of visual language. Visual language is a more interesting way of expressing your thoughts through pictures. We see visual language everywhere, even our dreams in most dreams there are no words, only pictures or settings. Without saying/reading anything we can get a very clear picture and even better then if we were to read words.

Visual Language The brain is very creative so even if you get what a picture is trying to say, we think of different outcomes of what else the image/picture is trying to say. It is all down to culture and how our brain functions. We all think differently, some people will get the picture and stick with that, others will get the pictures but think of other options that it could mean and maybe even joining all what they have thought of to create one big theory. Artists like to express their feelings through paintings and drawings, most people cant see what they are trying to say but other artists know exactly what they are feeling. Its as if paints and pens are words and instead of writing they draw.

Visual Language Visuals are absolutely everywhere, most of us choose visuals by choice however some have no choice but to use visual, such as deaf people. Deaf people are restricted to use pictures and visuals, it’s their way of communicating. In my opinion if I could only use visuals then I would. I think it is better to use visuals rather than words, it makes your brain work harder than what it normally would if you was only to read words. Blind people are similar, they have to use brail to read words and writing. Communication for the dead and blind must be very difficult even sometimes for people that have all their senses is hard so you cant begin to imagine how it is for the less able to get their messages across.

Semiotics A sign can be a word, a sound or an image. Signs can mean anything we want them to mean and they mean different things to different people, depending on how they look at the images and what they see differently. semiotic theories take signs or sign systems as their object of study: the communication of information in living organisms is covered in biosemiotics or zoosemiosis. Semiotics are visual language and various other aspects of communication joined together.

Semiotics Semiotics is the theory of signs and symbols, elements of language or other ideas of communicating. It shows words and other ways of communicating into simple form and expressing it to the fullest, making language and communication the best expression in its own way. The study of the relationship between symbology and communication.

Product Branding A brand is a collection of images representing an economic producer, more importantly it refers to the descriptive verbal attributes and concrete such as a name and logo. A brand usually has a unique logo or trademark that represent/identifies the company or product.

Product Branding A brand is a symbolic way of associating all the information connected to a company, a product or a service. A product is something made in a factory, a brand is something bought by people, a product an be copied by a competitor but made slightly different, a brand is unique. A product can be quickly outdated and ‘old news’ a successful brand can be timeless.

Product Advertising Advertising is bringing a product to the attention of potential and current customers. Advertising is focused on one particular product or service. Promotion is aimed at showing how a product can satisfy the articulated and tacit needs and wants of the target customer.

Product Advertising Advertising is a form of communicating used to persuade the viewers/public to purchase what the have to offer. Advertising is one of the best ways to sell a product and give information, show how the product works and how much it is priced at. Advertising nowadays is very important if you want your product to be successful in the market. Showing your products across the world will surely sell your products, but its about how you sell it. The best way to sell a product on TV is to have someone showing what the product is, how it works and the advantages of using it.

Product Advertising Having a successful advert in today’s market is very difficult, even so more and more adverts focus more on the advert rather than the product. David Beckham is almost as known for promoting products as he is for playing football. He has boosted products sales figures just by appearing in their adverts. It mattes hugely on who represents the product you are trying to sell as the buyers think if whoever is representing it likes the product then I should too.

Conclusion Overall i think that Visual language is the most important of all as is helps everyone communicate is every way, it makes communicating more interesting ad helps your brain work harder by thinking more rather that just listening to words.
