What If U.S. Debt Is Increasing Exponentially? According to many sources, the U.S. Debt is growing about one million dollars per minute. But will it continue to increase one million dollars per minute? Or, will the rate or increase per minute increase each year in an exponential fashion, where there is a doubling of the debt at a regular interval? The current debt is about $9.3 trillion. many sources If U.S. debt continues to grow at one million dollars per minute, year after year, then it is growing at a linear rate. And if this is the case, then our rate of growth of our economy, which is faster than a linear growth, will make the U.S. debt less of an issue. What Will Happen If U.S. Debt is Growing Exponentially?

Exponential Growth implies doubling at regular intervals. The U.S. debt (Feb 1,2008) of 9.2 trillion dollars, was 4.6 trillion dollars at about June of 1994, so this means it took about 13.5 years for the debt to double. Projecting ahead, we get June 1, 2021 – Debt = 18.4 trillion dollars Feb 1, 2035 – Debt = 36.8 trillion dollars June 1, 2048 – Debt = 73.6 trillion dollars Feb 1, 2061 – Debt = trillion dollars To find out if this is how debt is growing, you need to do the math! Watch the video on the NEXT PAGE and complete the exercise at the end.
