STATES SPECIFIC EPIDEMIOLOGICAL DATA TOBIAS JOHN

SESSION OBJECTIVES  To enable SACA CMOs utilize strategic HIV/AIDS information for programme design, management and control with particular reference to the Sentinel Survey Report 2010.

 Women aged 15 – 24 years constituted 35.5%;  years age-group with 25.8%.  25 – 29 years age-group constituted 32.6%  years age-group constituted the  least (2.4%)  Majority of the surveyed women were married (96.4%).  In all the zones, married women constituted  at least 95%, except South South (93.5%) and South West (93.6%). GUIDE TO GROUP WORK  Session objective- To enable CMOs translate epidemiological data into action point/plan.  Total time allocation 90 minutes.  Group presenters shall be new CMOs.  There shall be six syndicates each representing a zone.  Each zone shall identify the state with the highest prevalence.  One each of rural and urban communities with highest prevalence in the state shall be identified.  Show prevalence trend in these communities from  Identify in the communities, the likely: a. institution(s) b. Sub- communities/ hot spots/activities c. population most affected and possible coverage. D. Risk factors/drivers.  Base on the above, decide on the right thematic areas for intervention.  Suggest a control group community for strategies effectiveness evaluation.
