Travel Try-Out Program Update New Process (One Year Trial) Travel Coaches from Previous Year will not participate in their grade’s tryouts 3 Independent Evaluators will make up the team to select teams 1 of the 3 will be an Executive Committee Member (Current or Former) 2 of the 3 will be Travel Coaches from other grades No Evaluator can have a child in that grade (Boy or Girl) Evaluators are required to attend both tryouts and the Team Selection Meeting following tryout #2 Coaches input will be considered during the player discussions following the tryouts from Previous Year Player Evaluations Tryouts will be run by Coaches from the Boys and Girls High School Program 5 th Grade through 8 th Grade will no longer use colored pinnies. We will move to reversible jerseys that have numbers on both sides front and back.

Travel Try-Out Communication Communication to the WBA Community will be sent to all WBA s informing them of the Try-out process changes We will hold a 4 th Grade Parents Meeting at 8:00 a.m. prior to the 1 st tryout (Sunday, September 27 th for the Girls and Sunday, October 4 th for the Boys) Try-Out Schedules will be published on the WBA Website along with the Weekly School Notices, Westwood Press, and Hometown Weekly

Travel Try-Out Details GIRLS Sunday, September Westwood High School 8:30 – 104 th Grade Girls 10:30 – 125 th Grade Girls 12:30 – 26 th Grade Girls 2:30 – 47 th Grade Girls 4:30 – 68 th Grade Girls Monday, September 28 th WHS – 6 th Grade Girls from 8 – 9:30 (Possibly Earlier – Volleyball) Tuesday, September 29 th WHS – 8 th Grade Girls from 8 – 9:30 (Possibly Earlier – Volleyball) Wednesday, September 30 th TMS – 5 th Grade Girls from 6 – 7:30 WHS – 7 th Grade Girls from 8 – 9:30 (Possibly Earlier – Volleyball) Thursday, October 1 st TMS – 4 th Grade Girls from 6 – 7:30 Targeting early October There are a total of 10 tryouts (5 Boys and 5 Girls) Tryouts will be 2 sessions of 75 to 90 minutes Grades 5 through 8 will be run by the previous year’s A and B Coaches. Grade 4 will be run by the previous year’s Grade Coordinators. There will be 3 additional Independent Evaluators at each tryout There will be at least 1 WBA Executive Board Member present at each tryout. Independent Evaluators will be required to attend both tryouts and participate in the post tryout team selection process. Head Coaches are responsible for securing one evaluator for their tryouts. They will submit their selection to the WBA EC for approval. The EC reserves the right to reject the Coaches selection and replace them w/ a different evaluator.

Travel Coaches Selection Once the travel teams have been formed, invitations will be sent out to each players parent / guardian within 48 hours of the final tryout When registering for the team on the WBA website, parents will have the option of volunteering to be a Head or an Assistant Coach We are also open to non-Parent Coaches volunteering to be a Head or Assistant Coach. An to the Travel Coach Selection Chair (Vice President) will notify the EC of your interest in coaching We will hold a Travel Coach Selection Night on Tuesday, October 13 th – May very based on Coaches Selection Committee Availability

Travel Coaches Selection If there are more than one candidate interested in the Head Coach position, all candidates will be required to interview in person with the Coaching Selection Committee (WBA EC chaired by the VP) Following the interviews, the Coaching Selection Committee will notify all candidates of their selection on the night of the decision Head Coaches will be responsible for selecting their assistant coaches but require approval of the WBA EC. All Head and Assistant Coaches mush be CORI’ed prior to any practices or games
