The weather in India By Catherine

The climate in India There are 6 climate zones in India. It is cold in the north, and tropical in the south and west. There is also a desert in the north-west. This map shows all the climate zones in India.

Temperatures in India This map shows how hot it is in India, and how cool it can be. In the rainy season from June to September, India is one of the wettest places in the world! This time of year is called the monsoon season. In India, during monsoon season, it is common to see a mouse on the back of frog. They do this to escape the floodwaters.

Monsoon facts!  Most of the rain in India falls during the monsoon season.  It is estimated that there are about 500,000 lightning strikes during a monsoon.  A monsoon is a strong breeze that blows from cold to hot environments and can bring lots of rain.

The Himalayas  These mountains are in the north east of India  The two main seasons are winter and summer. During the winter the area gets lots of snow and ice.  In the summer it can be warm, up to 15 degrees.  This climate is called an Alpine climate.
