BCDS: Mission We are a secretariat within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston. We build, foster, and elevate philanthropic support to advance the priorities of the Archbishop in his mission of evangelization to bring the saving grace of Jesus Christ to everyone in our Archdiocese. 4

BCDS: Fundraising Programs BCDS raises funds for the Archdiocese of Boston through: –Catholic Appeal –Clergy Health and Retirement Trust –Campaign for Catholic Schools –Catholic Community Fund –Catholic Charities programs (3) *We work with parishes on offertory programs and capital campaigns 5

Catholic Community Fund  A new community foundation supporting Greater Boston’s Catholic community  Permanent endowment funds that help parishes, schools, and other ministries  Funds invested with a portion of annual earnings used to make grants  Additional earnings are returned to the fund to grow the principal  Some schools receive income from endowed funds for scholarships, etc. 7

 Purpose: To fund Catholic health-related needs  Made up of endowment funds of the former Caritas Christi hospitals  $11 Million in endowment  Of 61 grants awarded in CY15, 24 were to Catholic schools; $180,256  Watch for 2016 application in January for spring awards! 8
