JOB DISCRIPTION The legislative branch makes the laws and approves appointments by the president ( Judges and cabinet Members).

SENATE The senate has two senators that have a 6 year term. They have to be at least 30 years old, you have to have been a citizen for at least 16 years, and a resident from the state in which the candidate seeks the election.

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES The number of representatives depends on the population of the state, and you can only be one for two years (unless you run again). Alabama has only 7 representatives, but California has 53. Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming all have 1 representative. You must be at least 25, you must have lived in the U.S for 7 years, and you must be a resident from the state in which you seek the election.

The senate or house writes a bill and votes on it. Then they send it to the President. If the president approves it the bill becomes a law, but if he Vetoes it the entire process begins again. This is what a bill looks like.

THE SUPREME COURT The Supreme Court has 9 members—a chief justice and 8 other associate justices.

The supreme court has the power to decide weather a federal or state law or action by the president is constitutional.

Justices may remain in office for life. Justices are picked by the president And approved by the senate. TERM LENGTH
