The Ideal Room Double Check!

The Basics

Correct Notation A Perimeter = feet (ft) B Area = feet 2 (ft 2 ) C Volume = feet 3 (ft 3 )

MEASURE THE ROOM TOO! Do not forget to show your measurements for the 10 foot x 10 foot x 10 foot room. This should include perimeter and area and possibly volume. Source: accessed November 23, 2014.

MEASUREMENTS ALL rooms in your house: on the original plan added after the plan in your presentation Changed in any way ALL rooms in your project should have perimeter and area measured, and possibly volume. Source: accessed November 23, 2014.

CHECK YOUR WORK! Calculators are only as smart as their operators! Do not assume you are correct. Always double check your work Source: make/images/math_error.jpg, accessed November 23, 2014.

Math Story “Do I have to find the volume?” ›The Math story you write will justify why you are solving anything – if the story does not include it, then do not do it. The Problem ›To achieve full marks, you need to solve using many different formulas for perimeter, solve for area, for volume, and for “unfamiliar challenging problems”.

Math Story ›Your story should be personal, explain how you got the money and specifically what you will do. Included should also be your math calculations. Example After I won the lottery I asked my parents to redo my room in any way I wanted. The let me on the condition that I used proper contractors. So, the first thing I needed to know what the area and perimeter of my room to order the carpet and baseboards. My room is a square 10ft by 10ft so it is 100ft 2. Because my room is a square, I will use the formula 4s (4 times the length of the sides), so 4 x 10ft is 40ft worth of baseboards. The final thing I decided to do was live underwater, so I needed the volume of my room to order the special human water, I took the area of 100ft 2 and multiplied by the height of 10ft, for a total volume of 1000ft 3.

DESIGN CYCLE Minimum expectations: Fill out the first 3 questions Fill out the PLAN#1 Fill out a reflection log for each day worked on the project, answering all 3 questions. Source: accessed November 23, 2014.

Design Cycle You should have completed this page already. It must specifically outline what you are to do.

Design Cycle - Investigate There are 2 plan boxes, you must fill out what you plan (or planned) to do in order to complete your project.

Design Cycle - Create Fill in each box, answering all 3 questions, each day that you work on the project

My feedback ›I looked at all the projects that were handed in. ›Not everything was commented on, if it was not there, I did not comment on it. ›Make sure you look at ALL the instructions.

Questions? ›Ask in class ›Work with parents › Mr.
