Learning objectives: To be able to plan and structure an effective piece of writing

 With a partner work out the top 10 things to remember when structuring a really really really really good piece of writing.  Now rank them according to priority.

 Your story should have a clear beginning, middle and end. If there’s a shift in events you should start a NEW PARAGRAPH.  Draw a flow chart describing what is going to happen in your story. Put stars beside the CLIMAX (the most exciting part) of your story.

 What’s the difference between these two sentences?  As Superman flew over the city he could see the lights glimmering like a thousand tiny stars.  Flying over the city, Superman saw the lights glimmering like a thousand tiny stars.

 As Skeleton Boy made his way to the door he fought off three attackers.  Now write your own dramatic sentence featuring your superhero. Start with the verb to make it more exciting.
