Importance of Diversity To be committed to developing educated persons who are equipped to contribute to the interdependent world in which we now live.

Statement of Values  Diversity enriches the educational experience.  Diversity prompts personal growth – and a healthy society.  Diversity strengthens communities and the workplace.  Diversity enhances America’s economic competitiveness.

Workplace Commission for Diversity Responsibility is to:  Develop a long-term diversity plan that will improve the overall climate  Enable the workplace to establish a diverse learning community.

Recommendations  Develop wide goals for improving the presence of diversity among individuals and ideas.  Implement specific strategies that will advance progress on these goals.  Design both criteria for success and assessment methods for tracking accomplishments.

A Few Ground Rules For Dialogue  Promote a civil and respectful dialogue.  Speak from your own experience, avoiding blaming.  One speaker at a time.  Respect confidentiality of speakers.  Respect time boundaries so others may speak.
