Ensure education principles and concepts for the environment are aligned to the academic content standards adopted by the State Board of Education and do not duplicate or conflict with any academic content standards. Legislative Provisions for the Model Curriculum Developed by Cal/EPA and CIWMB, in cooperation with Resources Agency, State Department of Education and State Board of Education; Aligned with adopted academic content standards in Science, Mathematics, English/Language Arts, and History/Social Sciences; Reviewed by the Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission, Secretaries of Cal/EPA and Resources and, submitted to the State Board of Education for its approval; and, CIWMB pays printing costs and CDE posts and maintains on its Internet site.

Purpose of the Model Curriculum It will be designed to: help students achieve mastery of academic standards at each grade level with clearly defined learning outcomes that are aligned to California’s academic content standards provide a learning continuum from K-12 grade for teaching the Environmental Principles and Concepts
