March 30, 1867 Alaska bought from Russia ●We paid 7.2 million dollars ●Some attacked Seward o “Seward’s Icebox” “Seward’s Folly” ●Alaska became very valuable when gold was discovered ●Today they have the largest salmon industry ●Discovery of oil in the 1970s made Alaska rich.
