Publisher Lesson 5 Working with Style and Design Elements

Publisher Styles Style = Defined set of text and formatting attributes that help maintain consistent formatting. Once a style is created, it can be used in other publications. Publisher Styles are located on the Home Ribbon Styles can be imported from other publications by using the Import Styles command in the Styles list on the Home Ribbon

Working with columns Columns are seen in newspaper and magazine publications Located on Home Ribbon on the Paragraph Group Spacing options in Columns dialog box enables the user to adjust the spacing between columns Can adjust column spacing with the baseline guides using the Guides command on the Page Design Ribbon

Working with Text Boxes Drop Cap = enlarging the first character in a set of text that draws attention to the beginning of the section of text This attribute may be applied to an entire word or just a letter Reverse Text is a format that changes the typical look of text to light-colored text with a dark background. Great way to highlight text on a publication.

Working with Text Boxes Continued Text does not always fit into one text box or you may need to continue the text on another page. Text overflows may be created so the text can flow to the next text box. When text overflows are created, the text in multiple text boxes is automatically linked using the Autoflow feature.

Working with text boxes Continued Text boxes may also contain notification to tell the reader to locate other segments of the story. Continued On notice tells the reader where to find the next portion of the text. Continued From notice tells the reader where to find the previous portion of text.
