Why is it important to have a variety of bay animals? It is important to have a variety of living things in the bay. The blue crabs help to keep the bay clean. The eelgrass is important to the bay because people need it to eat. The grass cretin is important to the bay because they help eelgrass grow. All these are important because they help the bay be healthy.
Blue Crabs The blue crabs help keep the bay clean. Blue crabs are found in Chesapeake Bay years age. Predator is sea turtles and sea herons. They eat clams, oysters, mussels, dead fish. Male crabs are called jimmies. Female lay between 750,000 and 2,000,000 eggs. Feed there selves anything they can find. A few Blue crabs live longer then three years.
Eelgrass The Eelgrass is important to the bay because people need it to eat. They live in the bay grass beds. Eelgrass is a plant that grows under water. Europe uses it for mulch. Mexicans/Indians use it to eat there food. They use it for Americans homes. They also use it in Europe for packaging material.
Grass Cerith The Grass Cerith is important to the bay because they help the Eelgrass grow. They are eating small algae. They are dead or decaying. They help eelgrass grow and helps it survive.
Conclusion I learned that all my research will show that all the animals in the bay will also help the bay be healthy and the animals to be healthy to and then people will want to learn more things about the bay and then the bay will be popular!!!
