Community Service Project By: Fenton Rainey

What is the problem? The problem is children not knowing or being taught the importance of the environment.

How did you help? I helped this situation by going to Nags Head Elementary School on their Earth Day celebration. At the school there were various stations set up such as wind energy stations were the children mad mini wind turbines (wind mills), or the back yard habitats where they made tree frog habitats out of pbc pipe, or even the nags head woods rangers coming to talk to the students about local wildlife. I personally helped with the wind mill station and the habitat making stations. The children really enjoyed it.

What did you learn? I learned that the children are extremely bright and they absorb everything you tell them. They just need to taught. The whole experience was very eye opening, and exciting.

Was the activity worthwhile? Yes, the activity was extremely worthwhile. I loved every minute of the whole day. You could tell that the children really enjoyed the activities, and were not bored. When you can tell that a child is having fun, and you helped with the happiness its very rewarding.
