Aztecs and Incas Jeff SaleonePeriod 3

Aztec Living Area The Aztecs lived in Central America, mainly around Mexico, and their capital city was Tenochtitlan. The leader was Montezuma.

Aztec Life Aztec life was very similar to daily life today. Men supported the family and women provided the family with food and clothing. They sometimes sacrificed each other, by cutting out their heart, show it to the sun, then chop off their head.

Aztec Leaders Montezuma, their leader, died in 1520 by having stones thrown at him. They were conquered by a man named Hernando Cortez.

Inca Living Area The Incas were living in the Andes in Peru, in the capital city of Cusco. The leader was named Sapa Inca, which meant “Unique Inca.”

Inca Life The Incas were like medieval Europe. They had a high ruler as the highest position, nobles below, and craftsmen and farmers at the bottom.

Inca Leaders They were conquered by the Spanish conquistador, Francisco Pizzarro, in 1533, after he kidnapped Atahualpa, their current leader. Atahualpa They had many leaders, all with the title of Sapa Inca.
