FLEXIBILITY/SUPPLENESS WRITE DOWN A SENTENCE TO DESCRIBE WHAT FLEXIBILITY IS. FLEXIBILITY is the range of movement around a joint. Sometimes its called suppleness or mobility. Good flexibility helps us perform skills better. The amount you can bend and stretch your joints is very important when you are taking part in physical activities.

FLEXIBILITY TESTING THE TEST FOR FLEXIBILITY IS CALLED THE SIT AND REACH TEST. THIS TESTS HOW FLEXIBLE YOU ARE AROUND THE HIPS AND BACK. IN PAIRS, ONE COMPLETES THE TEST(3 GOES EACH), ONE RECORDS THE SCORE.

RULES OF THE TEST TAKE YOUR SHOES OFF AND PLACE YOUR FEET FLAT AGAINST THE BOX LEGS ARE STRAIGHT. REACH YOUR HANDS FORWARD AND TRY TO HOLD THE STRETCH( 2 SECS). YOUR PARTNER WILL RECORD YOUR SCORE BY USING THE MEASUREMENTS ON THE BOX. BEST OF 3 SCORES.

SHOULDER FLEXIBILITY TEST LIE ON THE FLOOR ON YOUR FRONT. HAVE YOUR ARMS OUTSTRETCHED ABOVE YOUR HEAD. HOLD ONTO A YARD STICK WITH BOTH HAND SHOULDER WIDTH APART. TRY TO LIFT THAT STICK AS FAR IN THE AIR AS YOU CAN, WHILE YOUR PARTNER MEASURES THE DISTANCE FROM THE STICK TO THE FLOOR.

What type of flexibility is being demonstrated? The gymnast shows static flexibility;she moves into, then holds a fixed position.

What type of flexibility is being demonstrated? Name another type of flexibility. Explain how it is different from the first type. The other type is dynamic flexibility. Its different because the action being performed is fast and its not held for any time.
