The Wireless World Indoors 1 Confidential The Wireless Industry, Indoor Mobility Solutions and DAS Greg Watson October

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 2 PRESENTATION AGENDA Mobility Industry Alphabet Stew – a few important terms and acronyms. Explosive Wireless Industry Growth – market drivers. Commercial Wireless Networks – technology evolution. Indoor Mobility Solutions – market drivers, challenges and opportunities. Zinwave – refreshingly simple, incredibly capable.

The Wireless World Indoors 3 MOBILITY INDUSTRY ALPHABET STEW LTE = Long Term Evolution. All IP, packet switching network. VoLTE = Enhanced, packet switched voice over LTE. OTT = Over The Top content. Applications such as Skype, Google Talk, WhatsApp and SnapChat. IoT = Internet of Things. Network of physical objects with embedded electronics and connectivity. Small Cell = low power radio access network (RAN) nodes. LTE-U = LTE in unlicensed spectrum (5 GHz), originally proposed by Qualcomm. LAA = License Assisted Access, LTE-A in unlicensed spectrum (5 GHz), aggregation of LTE on licensed and unlicensed spectrum, Ericsson sponsored 3GPP standard. AHJ = Authority Having Jurisdiction, very important albeit generic term for the Public Safety entity that enforces NFPA/IFC Fire Codes.

Explosive Mobility Demand Mobile subscriptions outnumber fixed lines 7 to 1 Text messages sent every second 225,000 Average YouTube mobile video views per day 1 Billion Average time Apps used per person, per month in Q hours, 15 minutes # of apps downloaded from iTunes 100+ Billion # of OTT messages (WhatsApp, Snapchat etc.) sent in Trillion Estimated # of IoT connected devices by Billion Total Pandora listener hours in Q Billion

The Wireless World Indoors 5 Confidential The Evolution of Commercial Wireless Networks 5

The Wireless World Indoors 6 COMMERCIAL WIRELESS NETWORK EVOLUTION Source :

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 7 NETWORK TECHNOLOGY – CARRIER AGGREGATION IS CRITICAL Source = Unwired Insight, Wireless Blog, March

The Wireless World Indoors 8 Confidential Indoor Mobility Solutions Market Drivers, Challenges and Opportunities

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 9 Mobility Appetite = Insatiable. Mobile Operators struggling to dimension Networks for exponential demand. Network Evolution = Change is Constant. Improved speed equals Network capacity. Next evolution cycle is here. Licensed Spectrum = Gold. Licensed spectrum is the Mobile Operators most valuable asset. Spectrum equals Network capacity. Expect more air to be sold by the FCC in the coming years Technology = Change is Constant. TDD, Carrier Aggregation, Convergence with Unlicensed and Integrated Sources are on the horizon. COMMERCIAL INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS – MARKET DRIVERS

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 10 Fire Code Enforcement. Enforcement of existing NFPA and IFC Fire Codes for First Responder Networks becoming the norm for new building construction. Occupancy permit held hostage. Retroactive Enforcement. Some AHJ’s considering First Responder Network enforcement for existing buildings. Fire Code Changes Proposed for Both NFPA and IFC plan to release updated requirements, likely more stringent. FirstNet. National 700 MHz LTE Network will become reality at some point. PUBLIC SAFETY INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS – MARKET DRIVERS

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 11 INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS - CHALLENGES Mobile Network Operators (MNO) Funding for indoor solutions very hard to come by, typically only for Fortune 100 companies, if at all. Approval to rebroadcast MNO networks difficult to obtain in some areas, impossible in others. MNO’s moving to alternate technologies for indoor coverage and capacity, shifting responsibility and cost to end user. Onerous documentation and testing requirements are expensive. Technology Refresh Cycle New technologies and additional spectrum coming fast. Engineering a Layer One Network that has a reasonable life expectancy a real challenge.

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 12 INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS - CHALLENGES Public Safety Code Enforcement Understanding how the AHJ enforces Fire Code is incredibly important. There are significant risks in bidding a Public Safety opportunity without clear understanding of the AHJ expectations. Equipment “Hardening” – NEMA-4 rated enclosures for equipment and in some cases conduit for cable material. 12 or 24 Hour Battery Back Up – probably the single largest cost driver for a First Responder solution. First Responder Solutions for New Construction Project gestation typically measured in years, not months. Once the crane’s in the air, it’s typically too late to bid.

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 13 INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS - OPPORTUNITIES Public Safety New Construction. These First Responder Networks are being constructed every day in cities all across America. Real projects with real budgets. Developers and General Contractors won’t get their permit for occupancy without demonstrating Code compliance. Retrofitting Existing Structures. Some AHJ’s are already starting to target key, existing structures for First Responder solutions. Upgrades. There are A LOT of under-designed First Responder solutions that won’t be able to deliver the quality required for LTE. Enterprise Very Large Enterprise. Mobility is an expectation in certain industries. WiFi isn’t a high capacity Network solution. Commercial wireless is needed for application support and employee satisfaction. The largest of these customers can and do influence the MNO’s.

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 14 INDOOR MOBILITY SOLUTIONS - OPPORTUNITIES Enterprise Large and Medium Enterprise. The Smart Phone is the new work phone. It’s the device people want to use. These customers aren’t interested in spending money (capex or opex) on wireline telephony. This market is really starting to take off. MNO coordination and cooperation is the only real governor here. Hospitality Similar to Very Large Enterprise. The need for Mobility Network access and capacity is very well defined. WiFi isn’t enough. Coupling coverage and capacity with Small Cell isn’t the right architecture for this vertical. MNO’s may engage and support this type of project. The big companies in this vertical are pushing hard for alternate technologies (LTE-U, CRAN, LAA) and they have budget to spend to fix wireless communication.

The Wireless World Indoors 15 Confidential Zinwave Refreshingly Simple, Incredibly Capable

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 16 ZINWAVE HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW What Frequency Will The Operators Acquire Next ? Zinwave Has You Covered from 150 MHz to 2.7 GHz 150 MHz 2.7 GHz

The Wireless World Indoors Confidential 17 What Makes Zinwave Different? Zinwave = Public Safety Ready. VHF, UHF, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, First Net, Coverage Antenna Alarming…bring it on. Zinwave = Future Proof. Zinwave is Layer One done right. Install the physical layer once. Zinwave = Performance. Fiber-fed, simplex, wideband, 5W PA’s provide best in class performance. Compelling. Zinwave = Simple. One system, Five parts, All bands and technologies. Simple.
