CREATING “COLLEGE- LEVEL” ART How to make sure your art doesn’t scream “I’m still in High School”

First lets talk about some things to Avoid… “Fan Art” Stuff that looks like “it’s been done before.” Needs to feel original.

Teenage themes.Cutesy stuff.

“Copying” (if you do no better than a copy machine what is the point) Obvious messages or meanings.

#1: PUT IN THE TIME!!! Each project should take a minimum of 6-8 hours to complete.

Don’t draw “things” create art! Avoid overused subjects.

Things you should do Think, THINK, THINK!Find a new angle.

Do something different.

Show your skills. Create art works NOT sketches (think about background).

Use a unique style Go beyond a “drawing class assignment”
