Debating part 2 Successfully arguing your point of view, whilst being receptive to other people’s point of view.

More controversial issues Nike Sweatshops in India, Pakistan and Cambodia have been using workers under the legal working age (some as young as 6) to make clothing, which is then shipped to Nike stores in the West. Nike now guarantee that all their products are made by people of legal working age and are paid a fair wage. What questions you should be think of: What is the legal working age? How much is a fair wage? What other brands manufacture cloths in India, Pakistan, Cambodia? Why not manufacture clothes in the countries where they will be sold?

Vote on the follow Should a toy company advertise products to young children so that they ‘pester’ their parents into buying them? Is it acceptable for Thai police to accept bribes? Even when they earn ฿ 10,000 / month? Should Regent’s increase tuition fees in order to provide better facilities? Should all countries adopt a compulsory education until the age of 16 and close down all sweatshops? Even if this means doubling the price of Nike clothing for example? Should Regent’s allow you to throw away food at lunch, when there are thousands of starving children in the world? Is it ok sell cigarettes even though they are the biggest cause of lung cancer in the world?

Prepare a debate upon the following. Should the BTS increase prices so it can provide more trains to new destinations?

Prepare a debate upon the following. Should Bangkok charge people a tax for driving their cars?
