Finding the School Site Sometimes finding the school itself can be tricky, so do yourself a favor and know where you are going. Parking: Call the site and ask the office staff of any restrictions. Location: *Call ahead and ask for directions to the site as well as where to find the office once you have arrived. *Or go online and do a map search (Map Quest or Google Maps) Sometimes finding the school itself can be tricky, so do yourself a favor and know where you are going. The Classroom Teacher Don’t worry…not all teachers bite! Talk with her or him to pre- arrange a time and place to meet. Be on time and bring any materials your professor has given you. A calendar or planner is also needed to coordinate the scheduling of lessons. Make sure to exchange contact information. Don’t worry…not all teachers bite! The Students Prior to meeting the students you will be working with, talk with the teacher about important information you need like student names, seating chart, special needs, background, and behavioral issues. Introduce yourself to the students. It is incredibly important for the kids to get to know you before you begin teaching lessons! Bring in pictures or items that tell them about yourself on a personal level. Explain why you are there. Invite questions they may have about you, or ask the students questions about themselves.
