…the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” (Mk. 1:14-15)

 Time that prophecy would be fulfilled  Time to bring people out of spiritual darkness  Time to provide spiritual leadership

 Why Galilee and not Jerusalem?  Galilee was  Where He was raised  Knew the area  Many Jews, lived there

And told them to “Repent”

 Jesus told His hearers that the terrible sin of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum was that they had seen His mighty works and had not repented (Matt. 11:20-24)  In Lk. 13:3, Jesus commanded, “Except ye Repent ye shall all likewise perish”  In Acts 2:38, Peter told believers, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

 Just conviction (Acts 26:26-29)  Just fear (Acts 24:24-25)  Just sorrow (Matt. 27:3-5)

 Repentance is a change of mind  Two sons (Matt. 21:28-32)  Produced by godly sorrow (2 Cor. 7:10)  Involves two things (Psa. 51) Taking responsibility for sin Realizing that sin is against God  Brings forth a change of life (Acts 19:19)

 Thessalonians  9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (1 Thess. 1:9-10)

 Thessalonians how you turned from idols  9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (1 Thess. 1:9-10)

 Thessalonians how you turned to God  9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (1 Thess. 1:9-10)

 Thessalonians to serve the living and true God,  9 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come. (1 Thess. 1:9-10)

 Sorrow (Matt. 26:75)  God's goodness (Rom. 2:4; 2 Pet. 3:9)  To be saved (Acts 2:38)  Judgment to come (Acts 17:30-31)

 Depends  Is there godly sorrow in your heart?  Do you appreciate the goodness of God?  Can you picture yourself on judgment day?
