The Legislative Branch of Government By: Kenton and Bradley

House of Commons Major law-making body in federal political system Members debate, study, vote on laws

MP’s Members of parliament= MP’s They represent the voters in one riding or district Most belong to a party Party with most MP’s forms government

MP’s roles They have 2 main roles- To represent their constituents and to create legislation for the peace, order and good government of all Canadians

Members are called senators Not elected, the prime minister appoints them They can remain in until they are 75 They represent the interests and rights of Canada’s regions All proceedings of the Senate are in French and English

Senates roles They represent their region and protect interests of minority groups in Canada They Make sure all voices are heard on issues
