Summary… The narrator states how friends, co-workers and even families are involved in the situation. Later, N'Deye Touti asks if Bakayoko will stay in Dakar. He says he is leaving and when he says he is leaving she asks when he will be coming back. He tells her he doesn't know and goes off. As they are walking home, they talk about Penda which they believe is actually a prostitute. Bakayoko then comments that he and the other union leaders are also prostituting themselves for their own cause. N'Deye Touti reveals that she wants to ultimately become Bakayoko's second wife. She is quoted for saying "it happens that sometimes you come to like something you thought you hated."

Own sentence: Tomas defended polygamy, as having multiple wives suited him.

Vocab. #2 Vocab: Auxiliaries - An individual or group that assists or functions in a supporting capacity Sentence from the book: pg. 230 “here, too, one of the Auxiliaries was always on guard.” Own sentence: Someone second in command is an auxiliary to the person in charge.

Vocab. #3 Vocab: vulgarity - the condition of being vulgar; lack of good manners Sentence from the book: “… but never before had he come across such vulgarity and lack of respect in the presence of an old man.” Own sentence: Brian's vulgarity made the conservative crowd look away in disgust.

Women in Africa “God’s of Bits of Wood” Shows that people in Africa consider women as 2 nd class. Women support their husbands or father so they do anything their husband or father asks. Women’s voices shouldn’t be heard because its their husband, or father who is superior.

Continue… Women/ wives do house work, and support the men. Their ideas/opinions are not important to be heard since women cann’t decide about nothing.

Striking Striking is a violating act contributed by a group of people. Its dangerous, but it takes place as a result of peoples who want their rights. Striking can lead to getting what you fighting for… (your rights).

Striking Women are suppose to do house work ( in Africa), so there should be no striking for them. They should support men & not march to get rights, or to vote. Striking is not safe, therefore its only mans job. Women are only house wives.

Striking in USA Woman can strike and fight for their own rights. They are considered as class #1. They are allowed to vote, and give their own options. They are FREE.

USA Vs. Africa USA- Women have rights & are superior. Africa- Women are considered as house wives, only support their family. USA- Women can do any job and their voices are heard and respected. Africa- Women are really low, even if something is done to them, its no problem. They are considered as products or objects.

Results… USA- Provides women rights, and freedom. Women do have responsibilities, but their voices are really important in any case, they are considered superior. Africa- Provides women with nothing more than just a family. There is no freedom, or rights for these women. Their voices are not important, but their job is to support their family (mostly men).

The End !!!
