Each group will be assigned one of the documents. Summarize the main points of your document. You will be asked to lead the class in a SOAPS analysis of your assignmed document: Source, Opinion, Author, Purpose, Sequence S - Where does the document come from? O - Is there a possible opinion or bias? A - Who wrote the document? (Hint: occupation, gender, religion, social class, etc.) P - What is the purpose of the document? (Hint: is it a speech, diary entry, government document? What is the TONE of the document?) S - Notice the dates. How might the sequence of events or the dates be significant?

DBQ Prompt Historical Context: Soon after the Americans declared their independence from the British in the late 18 th century, they embarked upon a rapid and controversial period of expansion. Examine the nature of the relationship between the Euro-Americans and Native Americans (Indians) during the 19 th century. Be sure to use Documents B, D, F, H. and J!!
