Collaborative projects Developing new knowledge, new technology products, including scientific coordination. Demonstration activities or common resources for research. Objective driven research dealing with either different issues through a programme approach or focussed on a single issue through a project approach Activities: Research, demonstration, training, innovation linked activities, management months

Collaborative projects At least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. The number of participants and volume of resources should be compatible with overall objective and manageability. Target audience: –Research institutes –Universities –Industry including SMEs –Possibly potential endusers

Collaborative projects Distinctions between different forms of collaborative project, based on budgetary thresholds, may be made on call by call basis! –Projects can range from small or medium scale focused research actions to large scale integrating projects for achieving a defined objective. –Any limits will be applied as an eligibility criteria and will be specified in the call text.

Collaborative projects in NMP Small or medium scale focussed projects ‘For small and medium scale focussed research projects the maximum EC funding requested must not exceed € 4 Million’ Large scale integrating projects ‘For large scale integrating projects the minimum EC funding requested must exceed € 4 Million’ SME-targeted projects ‘At least 35% of the EC contribution will be allocated to the participating SMEs For SME targeted projects no upper or lower limits in EC contribution are applied’

Collaborative projects Different possibilities in each Thematic area –Example: transport programma – Aeronautics and Land transport Division only based on the budget? No! There are differences: -large scale integrating project -small and medium scale focussed project -SME-targeted

Networks of Excellence Durable integration of the participants’ research activities/capacities with a view to creating a ‘European virtual centre of research in a dedicate field Activities: –Joint programme of Activities –Management of the consortium –Training dissemination and communication activities months

NoE: Joint Programme of activities –Combination and complementary use of resources of the participants such as mutual access to infrastructure, equipment, material data and knowledge –Exchange of researchers, managers and technicians –Redesign of the research portfolias and the research priorities and the reallocation of the resources

Network of Excellence At least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. The number of participants should be manageable, a range between three and seven participants would seem to be optimal for NoE Target audience: –Research institutes –Universities –Industry possibly through steering committees, governing boards, scientific committees, take up actions (SME)

Coordination and support actions Coordination actions: Consistent set of activities focussing on coordination of research activities and policies –Networking, coordination and dissemination activities Support actions: normally focused on one specific activity and often one specific event –Conferences, seminars, workshops, working groups, studies, fact finding monitoring, strategy development, awards and competitions, working or expert groups, operational support and dissemination, information and communication activities No funding of research, development or demonstration Duration: few months – 48 months

Coordination and support actions For coordination of research activities: –at least three legal entities established in different EU Member States of Associated Countries. The entities must be independent of each other. For other coordination and support actions: –at least one legal entity The number of participants and volume of resources should be compatible with overall objective and manageability. Target audience: –Research institutes, Universities, Industry including SMEs,

Joint Technology Initiatives Stimulating public private partnership It comprises of the research and technology development activities up to the highest technology readiness, focusing on the combination of systems and the final proof in the appropriate operational environment of the comprised technologies in fully integrated system of systems.
