ACT PREP Algebra I Begin by solving the 6 equations.

Review Solving Equations If 4m + 7 = m – 17, then 2m = ? -m -m 3m + 7 = m = -24 m = -8 So, 2m = -16.

Coordinate Plane, Slope, and Graphing See Coordgeo1, 2, and 3.

Algebra Rules—Combining Like Terms 3x + 5x 2 may not be combined as they do not have the same variable raised to the same exponent. 2x 8 – 5x 8 no problem... Combine them to get –3x 8.

Try this... (x 2 + 2x – 7) – (-5x 2 –3x – 4) x x 2 = 6x 2 2x - -3x = 5x = -3 Therefore, your answer is:  6x 2 + 5x - 3

Rules of Exponents (x m )(x n ) = x m+n (x m ) n = x mn See examples on board.
