Initiated the discussions that led to Measure R on the November 2008 ballot:  a ½ cent sales tax increase to raise $40 billion for LA County transportation over 30 years Built the Environmental, Labor, Business coalition that championed Measure R Measure R was approved by 67.8% of voters

What Does Measure R Provide? ½ cent sales tax increase in LA County for 30 years Will raise $40 billion for LA County transportation investments over 30 years About 70% of the funds will go for public transit 35% or about $14 billion is dedicated to 12 specific rail and fixed guideway bus rapid transit projects

 Accelerate Measure R projects through the “30-10 Plan”  Expand operating dollars for public transit  Ensure transit & pedestrian oriented land use policies  Ensure an ambitious SB 375 implementation program.

The Plan: Accelerates 12 Measure R Transit Projects Can we build 30 years of projects in 10 years? Yes, if we can get low cost financing! The barrier is not planning, design, environmental review, or construction time. The real barrier is cash flow.
