Process Stability Training

Objective Objective: By the end of this lesson, you will be able to use two Process Stability tools for the purpose of determining whether or not a process is stable enough to allow Continuous Improvement.

Purpose of Process Stability Tools Use as an observation tool to grasp the current condition and show improvement ideas by evaluating: Level of stability at the process. Validate quality at the process. Validate process standards.

PROCESS STABILITY AIDS MANAGING THE FOLLOWING AREAS: SAFETY:Identifies 5S and ergonomic standards in the process to ensure a safe working environment. QUALITY:Identifies quality standards in the process to ensure quality built in at the process. DELIVERY:Controls the inputs of a process to ensure consistency of output to improve First Time Capability (FTC). COST:Identifies production wastes to reduce overall costs (I.e. repair and rework) MORALE:promotes continuous improvement activities at the Team level to allow T/Ms to “work smarter not harder”. What is Process Stability?

Process Stability Tools Simple and effective Tools used in the work station by all Team Members to evaluate process stability: 1. Process Stability Checklist Used to identify areas for process stability improvements. Used to identify and document effective improvement countermeasures. 2. Process Stability Visual Checklist Used to identify areas for process stability improvements. Used to visualize before and after improvement conditions.

Process Stability Checklist Tool

Completing the Process Stability Checklist: 1. Evaluate the process using the questions provided on the checklist. - Blank spaces are available for any other identified conditions not listed. 2. Check Yes or No if items are identified. 3. For all No answers, identify action items in the column provided.

Process Stability Visual Checklist

Use the Visual checklist to identify areas for process stability improvements in the station. Team Members are encouraged to use this checklist as a guide to visualize and implement their own improvement ideas.

Completing the Visual Checklist Completing the Visual Checklist (or create your own): 1. Evaluate each station for the pictured conditions or identify other similar conditions not pictured. 2. Check Yes or No in the box provided. 3.Provide an effective action item identified conditions. 4. Draw the before and after condition to visualize improvements.

Process Stability Key Points All Team Members are encouraged to include their own ideas when using these tools. Do not limit your checklist to only the examples provided. Other existing stability concerns may exist in your work station and should be considered.
