Maritime Museum – Litochoro Litochoro’s Maritime Museum is located in the centre of our town. It is a quite recent museum, with exhibits related to the Navy and Merchant Marine. There are items used in the past by sailors, paintings of ships owned by old citizens of Litochoro, photographs, old documents, and many more. Although our town is not right next to the sea, it has a long maritime tradition. For centuries many of our people were involved in shipping, as trading and transport were done mainly by sea. Our ships travelled in the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea, carrying people as well as merchandise. The maritime tradition developed in the course of time is depicted in the memories of the people involved in shipping, in the objects they used as well as in their songs, which are sung to this day on various occasions.
