Hal R. Varian is a professor in the School of Information, the Haas school of business and the Department of Economics at University of California at Berkeley. He is now on leave from the University of California at Berkeley, and is now working as the Chief Economist of Google.
Received his BA degree from MIT in 1969, his MA in mathematics and a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley in In recognition of his achievements he has received Honorary PhD from University of Karlsruhe and University of Oulu.
