Where are we from? Our team is from Northern Ireland, County Down. Our college is in Downpatrick which is a small town with many schools, it is home to the legendry St Patrick’s grave. Our capital city is Belfast, a major tourist attraction for people all across the world.

Tourist Attractions  One if its major tourist attraction is the new Titanic Quarter Museum and the cranes used by Harland and Wolff to build ship itself.  Northern Ireland is very scenic the Marble Arch Caves and Giants Causeway.

SERC opened its doors in There are 4 main campuses: Lisburn, Downpatrick, Newtownards and Bangor. Our campus is Downpatrick; it offers a wide range of full and part-time courses available to all ages. SERC provides full and part-time education leading to University or into the world of work.

How SERC helps with University and Work.  Our College prepares us for University and work in many ways. The first week we had an induction week, the name of the project was “Get the Edge”, and it was all about designing a product and how we would market it. This was a good way of showing us how to market an idea.

How SERC helps with University and Work.  We have a careers office which helps us decide whether we want to go to university or go straight into work.  Our college also offers Foundation Degrees and HNDs in a range of subjects.  This officer comes to give us talks on college options and to explain the process of applying to colleges.

How SERC helps with University and Work.  During our first year we did a unit called Communications and Employability.  In this unit we did mock interviews which developed our confidence and speaking skills. We have an excellent UCAS teacher who helps us apply for university.  All our subjects are vocational which prepares us for the IT industry – Web Design and Programming.

How SERC helps with University and Work.  Free newspapers are available with job opportunities on a daily basis.  Guest speakers from the IT industry deliver talks which gives us an insight to the industry.  We have an Enterprise sector which allows students to put forward business ideas and to start up a small business.

What I would like to do after this course Rebecca  Hello, My name’s Rebecca  After I complete this course I would like to attend University  I would like to study Computing with Engineering or Computing with Education  I would like to attend the University of Ulster, the Magee Campus in Derry  I would like to study these subjects because I'm interested in teaching computers and fixing computers.

Maria- what I hope to achieve after this year  I hope to complete my second year of my Level 3 National Diploma in IT  I hope to get accepted into university  I’m going to apply to Belfast & Liverpool universities  If I get accepted into university in Belfast I’ll hopefully move into a house with a few friends  I’m interested in a few courses I feel I would enjoy and benefit from, they are Computing, Business with IT and Human Resource Management

Oisin’s plan after this course  Hi, my name’s Oisín.  My plans for after this course is to hopefully to further my education in University.  I want to study Computer Science.  I want to study it because I find it interesting and very fun.

Sam  Education: I’m currently in my second year of my Level 3 course in IT  Plans for the future: When I have completed my course I will be searching for jobs.  How SERC helps me: SERC has helped me as it is required to do employability skills at the start of and throughout my course.

Canice  Education: I’m currently in my second year of my Level 3 course in IT. I chose this because I found IT very interesting  Plans for the future: When I have completed my course I will search for jobs in the IT industry and try to get into programming.  How SERC helps me: SERC has helps me as it is required to do employability skills at the start of and throughout my course and it also allows us to get used close deadlines to deadlines.
