Geography Japan has a total of 6,852 islands extending along the Pacific coast of Asia. The main islands, from north to south, are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. The islands of Japan are located in a volcanic zone on the Pacific Ring of Fire. Japan has 108 active volcanoes.

Economy Japan is the third largest global economy. Japan has a large industrial capacity, and is home to some of the largest and most technologically advanced producers of motor vehicles, electronics,machine tools, steel and nonferrous metals, ships,chemical substances, textiles, and processed foods.

Earthquake and Tsunami of 2011 The magnitude of the earthquake was 9, people and people missing. 125,000 buildings damaged or destroyed. The quake's epicenter was in the Japan coast and the earthquake created a massive tsunami. Tsunami waves measured 10 meters
