Sentence Combining—Bellringer These sentences provide a review of Stop/Go (specifically, the use of dashes, the colon, and the semicolon), interrupters, Look Left, possession rules, and parallelism. Combine each group of sentences to make one powerful sentence. You may COMBINE / REARRANGE / EXPAND/ and SUBTRACT. For one of the three revisions, you must revise in at least two different ways; therefore, you shall write four sentences total.

Sentence Combining 1 I have a favorite teacher. My favorite teacher is my uncle. My uncle is retiring from the university next summer.

Sentence Combining 2 There are two professors. The professors have dogs. The dogs are Chihuahuas. The dogs are barking. A mail carrier passes by the window. The dogs are near the window.

Sentence Combining 3 The Endangered Species Act contains a potential problem. The potential problem concerns private property owners. The government’s enforcement of the Endangered Species Act may create an inconvenience for private property owners. The government refuses to compensate private property owners when they have been imposed upon.
