UNECE UN/CEFACT Background (1981/82)  In major groups working within the Port of Hamburg (Forwarder, Liner Agent, Tally and Quay Operator) agreed upon the following: o Efficient organization of transportion needs early information  information exchange using EDI  avoids double typing,  avoids errors due to double typing  saves time and  saves money o Flow of information within the Harbour was too slow and too expensive

UNECE UN/CEFACT Business model  Shareholders to pay a yearly fee for the so called „traditionell EDI-Business within the port - community“  Each participant has to sign a contract with one of the shareholders and has to pay to them for the usage of the EDI-Network of DAKOSY  Additional services of DAKOSY (EDI, ASP and IT- Services) are charged by DAKOSY directly
