Grad Game Plan

Less than 180 days to go…  Over the next 10 months you will: Complete your final credits to graduate Finish your Community Involvement hours Apply to college or university or begin an apprenticeship or Plan your gap year Look for financial assistance (scholarships, OSAP) Begin your life after high school…

Step 1: Make sure you are graduating!  Check your CCS/Book your Grad Game Plan Interview (starting next week!) 30 credits, 18 compulsories (**on-line**) -No? SEE US ASAP!!! Literacy requirement -No? SEE US ASAP!!! 40 hours Community Involvement -No? Get to work…come see us in Student Services ○ APRIL 1 DEADLINE

Step 2: Get prepared…  University entrance Best 6 “U” or “M” level courses (includes ENG4UO) Course requirements vary by school / program. See handouts and web resources.  College entrance Overall average ALL programs require 12 “C” English Course requirements vary by school / program. See handouts and web resources  Apprenticeships Connect with us about how to get started!

Step 3: Make a plan & do the research  Book an appointment with Papalia or Weichel  Research college  Research university or ouac.on.ca  Research trade  Research options at  Plan to attend events / workshops See “Important Info / Dates” in handout

If you are headed to Post Secondary…  Ontario College PSHS – Oct. 13 th  Aboriginal Post Sec. PSHS – Oct. 30 th  U / C / Other PSHS – See Schedule in Student Services and Listen to Announcements!!

Step 4: Applying and Application deadlines  University Application process begins after you receive your PIN number in late October/early November. Last day to apply: January 13, 2016  College Application process begins in late October Last day to apply with “equal consideration”: (*likely*) February 1, 2016  If you only do ONE THING on time this year, make sure it is your college or university application!

College/University not your cup of tea?  Apprenticeships  Armed Forces  Victory Lap  Gap Year  Employment

Step 5: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$  Scholarships (ONGOING – Be the early bird…) See the handouts in Student Services See Scholarship board in Student Services ○ ○ ○  Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) Apply on-line in the spring Must be accepted at a post-secondary institution to qualify

Step 6: Take Control  Review the resources  Review your Credit Counselling Summary  Sign up for the visits and a Grad Game Plan Meeting starting tomorrow. Sign up for follow-ups as needed!  Attend class and do your best Marks count!
