1.2 NASA: PixelSense Interface Project

Team Members To design an expandable interface for displaying and monitoring the many systems in different space vehicles as well as crew member specific information. Tyler Lyssy - Project Manager Kyle Paul - Software Developer Matt Mullen - Software Engineer Goal

Diagram Database Systems Health Food Schedule Parts Other Smart Watch PixelSense Graphical User Interface Wireless Area Network

Hardware Samsung SUR40 The PixelSense can detect up to 52 simultaneous inputs which allows multiple users to interact with the interface at once. Infrared Sensors beneath the screen allows for tagged objects placed on the screen to be recognized, thus, adding an additional level of interaction.

Software Applications built using the Microsoft Surface 2 SDK Visual Studio: Visual C# IDE used for developing the logic for the surface applications Expression Blend: Used to design and personalize the user interface.

Functions A crew member can place their “Smart Watch” on the screen which will display a GUI that will allow the crew member to monitor and manipulate important personal information i.e. (Bio Medical, Schedule, Food consumption, etc.) A part from the vehicle can be placed on the screen and a manipulatable window displays showing part specific information such as Size, Weight, Make-up, and installation instructions if necessary. Set of windows that will display the current status of many different systems in the vehicle i.e. (ECLSS,GN&C,Propulsion, Comm. and Tracking, Caution and Warning, etc.)

Deliverables Expandability of the program Multi-user functionality Tagged objects are recognized and info displayed properly Crew member information displaying correctly Vehicle systems information displaying correctly

Requirements Created Group and project assigned Completion of interface for part recognition Completion of interface for food recognition Completion of profile interface for "Smart Watch" Fully working system ready for demonstration Design prototypes Timeline Sept. Dec. 5th Feb. 25th Apr. 22nd Jan. 14th Mar. 25th May 13th
