It has a dorsal background that is reddish brown and is 36 cm. to 62 cm. long. It also has black spots.

They have birth to 5 to 8 babies in late summer. They are about 11 to 17 cm. Their young are darker than the mother and father.

This animal lives in forests where it is very shady.

It eats earth worms and slugs.

We hunt them and foxes, hawks, and raccoons eat them.

It protect its self by wiggling fast and stillness and hides in its burrow.

It lives for 5 years or more.

I like this animal because it has no legs.
