+ The Purpose The purpose of this multi media session on name change post marriage is to educate women who will be embarking upon the process and taking on their husbands name. When it comes to changing your name legally, there’s a particular cadence one must follow to ensure the process goes smoothly. In 2011, TheKnot.com surveyed 19,000 newlywed women and found that only 8 percent kept their last names; 86 percent took their husbands' names, with the remaining 6 percent presumably modifying or hyphenating. With the anticipation that majority of women will change their name it’s important to provide them with the tools to ensure they are fully educated on the process.
