ŁÓDZKIE First step to eHelath in Lodz Region „Strategy of eHealth of the Lodz Region for ” 3 HOSPITAL CARE Hospital care offered to the inhabitants of Lodz Region was managed by the following 78 health care institutions:  17 institutions subordinate to Regional Government, including: o 15 hospitals; o 2 health care facilities specialising in children rehabilitation.  24 district hospitals;  2 communal facilities;  7 hospitals subordinate to the Senate of Lodz Medical University (including the Dentistry Institute without bed facilities);  2 institutes subordinate to the Minister of Health;  1 hospital subordinate to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration;  2 non-public hospitals (the Order of St. John of God in Łódź and the System S-1 Hospital in Tuszyn)  and other non-public health care facilities.

ŁÓDZKIE First step to eHelath in Lodz Region „Strategy of eHealth of the Lodz Region for ” OUR VISION „As a consequence of planned activities of the regional authorities, the healthcare centres operating in the Lodz Region broadly use modern IT solutions for the purpose of improving the quality of services and meeting social and economic challenges posed by demographic changes. The inhabitants of the region have access to reliable information and consultancy services and to selected telemedical services provided by interoperably integrated IT systems that also serve for the staff of healthcare centres for electronic data interchange, data analyses and management support.” 13

ŁÓDZKIE First step to eHelath in Lodz Region „Strategy of eHealth of the Lodz Region for ” OUR MISSION „Regional partners open to cooperation on the national and European scale, that is entities managing the healthcare system, representatives of the R&D sector and the IT sector, together face a challenge of consistent support for the modernisation and restructuring of the healthcare system of the Lodz Region by applying ICT tools in order to increase the quality of medical services and the effectiveness of financial outlays incurred. The process, that is appreciated by the Region authorities as an important element in the regional cohesion policy, serves for enhancing the competitiveness and innovation of the region and is implemented based on the financial plans specified in the eHealth Strategy.” 14
