The FIFA 2014 World Cup  How popular is soccer in the United States?  The US Vs. Portugal game had 18 million American viewers.  The play-off game between Brazil and Germany had 12 million American viewers.  ESPN’s Monday night football averaged 13.7 million viewers.

The 2014 Super Bowl The 2014 Super Bowl between Seattle and Denver was watched by 111 million U.S. viewers – 160 million worldwide.

The FIFA 2014 World Cup  An estimated 3.7 million people traveled to Brazil during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.  The average foreign tourist attended four World Cup matches and spent approximately $2,488.  The economic impact for Brazil is estimated at $3.03 billion.

The 2012 Olympics

 NBC spent $1.18 billion for the U.S. broadcast rights to the 2012 Olympics.  They received 5,535 broadcast hours of programing which is equal to 7 1/2 months' worth of programing.  The Olympics could be seen on the national NBC network, eight cable channels -- NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, Telemundo, two specialty channels, and one 3-D channel -- and live online at NBCOlympics.com.
