GU Branch Who we are, what we do and how you can get involved!

Who are we?  Relatively new society in GU  Focused on human development  Three divisions for you to join

Outreach  We deliver workshops in local primary and secondary schools  Educate pupils on STEM subjects and engineering  Focus on water access and renewables

Outreach

 Emphasis on skills development and maintaining high standards of teaching  We work closely with Glasgow City Council to ensure this  GUEWB encourages its members to create new workshops

Fundraising  A wildly successful undertaking for us  We need as many volunteers as possible!  Open to absolutely everyone, engineers or not

Fundraising  Worked with Friends of MSF last year  Joint dinner with speakers from both medical and engineering professions  Looking to fill our 2015/16 year with more events, drawing in bigger crowds

Three Peaks Challenge!  Given our size and age, a huge achievement  Attempted Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in under 24 hours  Raised £3500 for Send a Cow

Partnerships  Looking to establish links with charities overseas  Putting practical engineering skills to use  Able to enact ‘massive small change’ in communities worldwide

GUEWB Wind  This is our flagship project  Prototype ‘small wind’ turbine  Building our knowledge and experience for future work abroad

GUEWB Wind  Project is still open for new members  Engineering behind it is relatively simple  Prototype currently in pre-production stage

GUEWB Wind  Small wind has already taken off in rural communities world wide  From the Peruvian Andes to Tanzania  A great project which combines human development with real engineering skills.
